Jellyfish
"They were amazed at his teaching, because his words had
authority" (Luke 4:32).
Something about the words of Jesus made people sit up and
listen. St. Paul
said the following: “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper
than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and
spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart” (Hebrews
4:12).
We live in a world of relativism where we create our own
subjective realities with our own code of ethics and morality. That code could
be as flexible as a jellyfish in the face of our wild appetites. The church, on the other hand, invites us to embrace the objective truth of God, which is
revealed to us in the person of Christ Jesus.
The word of God will not always sooth your feelings. Maybe it
will uncover something uncomfortable in you as you ponder today’s readings. But
you don’t have to be afraid! Jesus wants to bring his light into your life. If
his word uncovers something unexpected in you, know that he won’t leave you there.
His word is always there to set you free and make you whole.
God’s word is not just a theoretical principle. It’s alive
and active. When you read today’s Gospel and see the man go from bondage to
freedom, know that this is exactly what Jesus can do for you. So take his word
into your heart. Sit with it and ponder it. Let God speak directly to you.

Fr. Nareg

May the spirit of God lead you in all your messages. May this same spirit , who is alive in all believers in Christ, also lead us in all our thoughts. May we , through his spirit alone, submit to His perfect will. May we submit any and every thought, idea, or action to Him. May we also only follow the Holy Spirit and reject anything that is not from Him. As you said , Christ is the only truth because he IS truth. He IS life. We are free in Him. And He is the ultimate Joy are hearts were made for . God help us as you sanctify us daily, minute by minute , as we lean and trust in you and Be CONFORMED in CHRIST's image. God forgive us all for our failings and may your will be completed in us. May your name be praised by our lips. Give us the will, the faith, the hope, the wisdom , the conviction and every thing we need to be in your presence daily through your spirit . You are a GOOD and faithful God. Help us fully grasp that and not be discouraged. If Christ is for us (and he is) then who can be against us. Help us reject any and every kind of evil that is in our hearts and surrender to you, true love. You God are our wonderful councelor and our FATHER. Amen.
